LYDIAN Mode

The Lydian Mode has a very interesting " color ", some guitarists often use it, like Steve Vai for example.

Here is a little improvisation using this Mode: MP3

Lydian is the 4th mode of the major scale .

E Lydian is thus the 4th mode of the B Major Scale

Using key of B Major:
1. B - Ionian
2. C# - Dorian
3. D# - Phrygian
4. E - Lydian
5. F# - Mixolydian
6. G# - Aeolian/G# Minor

7. A# - Locrian
